Naira Marley and his brothers want to settle out of court over car theft accusation
Naira Marley, a Nigerian controversial musician who failed to show up in court over an accused of car theft, has agreed for out-of-court settlement after being offered a final chance of appearing in court.
Based on reports from the lawyer representing Naira Marley, his two brothers, Idris Fashola and Babatunde Fashola, their cousin Kunle Obere, the four-count charge of fraud, stealing, assaulting and obstructing the police towards their clients could be withdrawn before the next court hearing of the case if the negotiations between them and lawyers of the complainant succeeds.
Defense lawyer for the rapper, Mr. Awokulehin Ayodeji, who spoke to The Nation, revealed that the police are also in support of the peace agreement on the issue. He said, "we hope that an agreement will be reached before the next adjourned date. The police have no problem with an out-of-court settlement.”
Naira Marley and his relatives were charged with stealing of a Toyota Camry car worths N1.8 million naira belonging to one Mr. Adelekan Ademola, with an iPhone Xs which worth around N330,000. Naira Marley was born in Agege, Lagos State, Nigeria but later moved to Peckham, South London when he was just 11-years of age where he kept his substantial Nigerian inflection. Also, Naira Marley is still on the EFCC book for several internet frauds and money laundering which started last year. He would be going to court soon for the charges against him from the Nigerian anti-corruption squad EFFC. This happened after he released a controversial song with Zlatan Ibile titled "Am I a Yahoo Boy"
